The annual Prairieland Chautauqua is getting an infusion from Illinois Humanities.

The group’s board of directors has awarded $65,000 to 13 nonprofit organizations across Illinois for the development and production of public humanities projects.

The Morgan County Historical Society will get $3,000 to support the 18th annual Prairieland Chautauqua in September, with the focus on the theme “Silver Screen.”

Among the other groups receiving grants are South Side Projections, which is getting $4,000 to support screenings of documentaries on labor movements and Forefront, which is getting $15,000 to support statewide adoption of a platform for nonprofit capacity building.

Any nonprofit group, organization or institution is eligible for financial support from Illinois Humanities. The deadline for the next application cycle is Sept. 15.
