Channel Cat Talks are $13.50 per participant, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9:00-10:45 am. The water taxi departs from the Celebration Pier Channel Cat Landing, 2501 E. River Drive, Moline IL. Each presentation is narrated by an expert in his or her respective field.

• July 19th and 21st: Making the Mississippi Drinkable, Brent Earley

• Jul 26th and 28th: Bix Beiderbecke and Louie Bellson, Josh Duffee

• August 2nd and 4th: The Government Bridge, Bill Ashton

• August 9th and 11th: Birds, Boats, Clams, and More!, Jon Duyvejonck

• August 16th and 18th: River Landscape Mosaic, Dr. Reuben Heine

• August 23rd and 25th: Birding on the River, Dick Sayles

• August 20th and Sept. 1st: Mexican and Latino/a American Histories of the Quad Cities, Dr. Araceli Masterson

Riverine Walks are $6.00, or free to River Action members. They are Wednesdays, 6:30-8:00 pm, and Saturdays, 9:00-10:30 am. Exact locations will be sent with confirmation card.

Background

River Action‘s RiverStages Education Series provides Quad City residents and tourists a chance to experience and learn about the Mississippi River. The series includes Channel Cat Talks and Riverine Walks. These presentations take citizens to unique sites on the river and along the riverfront to explore its history, identity, culture, flora and fauna, watershed or water quality with the intention to create an awareness of an appreciation for the Mississippi River. This program still has many exceptional education opportunities left in the summer season.

Channel Cat Talks participants tour aboard the water taxi while experts narrate. Riverine Walks offer a unique experience from land with guided walks in various Quad City locations. Similar to the Channel Cat Talks, Riverine Walks are presented by local professionals and aim to educate Quad City residents and visitors about our local environment, culture, and history with a wide array of interactive discussions.
