In anticipation of the 3rd Annual Gwendolyn Brooks Youth Poetry Awards and in celebration of National Poetry Month, the Poetry Foundation and Illinois Humanities are hosting a community lunch featuring past winners and a free poetry writing workshop for young people in grades 4 – 12 and their families.
Following lunch, Teaching Artists will be on hand to guide young people in the creation of new works, which can be submitted on-site. Poems from young writers in grades K-12 can also be submitted here. The submission deadline is Sunday, May 5th
Please note, young people under the age of fourteen must be accompanied by an adult caregiver to the event.
