Illinois Humanities invites representatives of libraries, museums, historical societies, arts councils, tourism bureaus, and other nonprofit organizations, as well as educators, to learn about the grant opportunities and public programs that we offer every year. This workshop will include an introduction to the mission and work of Illinois Humanities, discussions about opportunities for collaboration in southern Illinois, and detailed information about several of our programs:
Community Grants
making funding available to museums, libraries, and other non-profit cultural organizations
Small-Group Discussions
examining current events and contemporary issues in Vienna, Golconda, and Carbondale
Capitol Forum
providing a collaborative civic education experience for high school social studies classes
Museum on Main Street
presenting Smithsonian-produced traveling exhibits in partnership with community organizations
Illinois Humanities Road Scholars Speakers Bureau
offering presentations on a wide variety of subjects by Illinois authors, artists, and educators
