Talking about race can be difficult and awkward, but it is also necessary. The New York Times Op-Doc series recently featured the a short video, produced by Blair Foster and Michèle Stephenson, featuring white people reflecting on how they talk about race. Of course, these people are not affected by the daily realities of race to the degree that people of color in our country are. But this short documentary demonstrates how hard it can be to start a conversation and to acknowledge all the work still needed to confront the fact of race in our nation.
