Chicago is home to the world’s only museum with a focus on art by veterans depicting their war experiences.
The exhibit is called Intrusive Thoughts and showcases work by veterans of the Iraq, Afghanistan and Global War on Terror at the National Veterans Art Museum.
The Public Square’s Café Society, which is an Illinois Humanities Council program, on Saturday sponsored “Art of Dissent: Transforming Trauma and a Culture of War.”
At the program, guest speakers and dozens of museum-goers discussed the culture of war and the impact on the person, group and society.
