Next grant deadlines January 15, 2010 and February 15, 2010
CHICAGO – The Illinois Humanities Council Board of Directors has awarded a total of $8,500 to four nonprofit organizations across Illinois for development and production of public humanities projects. Community support for these projects totaled $97,025. The grantees are:
- “Memories from the Farm” Program Series, Sycamore History Museum, Sycamore ($2,000)
- 15th Annual Chicago Asian American Showcase, The Foundation for Asian American Independent Media, Des Plaines ($2,000)
- Korean American Women’s Story Project Video Presentation, KOWIN Foundation for Education and Culture, Chicago ($2,500)
- 31st Annual Celebration of Life Long Learning Featuring Keynote Speaker Dr. Timothy Walch, CommUniversity, Inc., Rock Island ($2,000)
The Illinois Humanities Council (IHC) invites nonprofit organizations to apply for its next cycle of grant awards by January 15, 2010 and February 15, 2010. Any nonprofit group, organization, or institution is eligible to apply for financial support from the Illinois Humanities Council for a public project in the humanities, including documentary films, local and community history projects, literary symposia, and oral history projects.
The IHC makes it a priority to fund projects developed by, for, or aimed at reaching new or historically neglected audiences. The IHC also encourages applications for projects about American history and culture.

Those planning to apply for a major grant in the February 15, 2010 cycle MUST contact a program officer by January 15, 2010 to let us know of their plans to apply.
