Most casual observers and scholars alike draw connections between rap and spoken word.  In both cases the tradition of the griot is alive and well, telling the stories of people, communities and the challenges of daily life. The question is, what gets lost in translation?  How do our stories speak across generations? This panel and performance allows elders, youth and the young at heart to share their process and their love of the word. The spoken word artists will describe how they approach their craft (in both writing and performance) and their various responsibilities to the communities they are a part of. Come watch, learn and join in an interactive and engaging poetic presentation!
