"The Unites States Is a Folk Song" Presented by "Randall E. Auxier, Professor of Philosophy, Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Auxier is an active musician and songwriter, playing for the last seven years with the Bone Dry River Band, and an amateur (but serious) musicologist. The program examines the music popular during the era of the Civil War and the part it played in creating America’s modern popular music industry. Funding for this presentation was provided by a grant from the Illinois Humanities Council, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Illinois General Assembly.
