Donna Alexander, local expert on the growing of pumpkins, will discuss how the pumpkin has been used in food preparation in North America since the time of European contact, and explore the reasons why this food was a staple in early American homes.
There will also be a bake-off, tasting and presentation on the use of pumpkins and gourds in favorite recipes.
