The English Masque was a courtly entertainment that flourished in the 17th century combining song, comedy, and dance.
Henry Purcell, celebrated for his church music and benchmark English opera Dido and Aeneas, was also the indisputable master of the Masque.
To commemorate the 350th Anniversary of the British Orpheus, the Opera Company presents THE FOOD OF LOVE, a collection of vignettes that pays homage to the Masque, the genius of Mister Purcell, and to the grace and power of Musick itself.
