Created as part of the New Deal under President Franklin D. Roosevelt, the Civilian Conservation Corps recruited young men to work on "conservation" projects around the United States in exchange for room, board and a monthly wage. In Southern Illinois the CCC helped create the Shawnee National Forest and Giant City State Park. An interactive slide presentation, this program features archival photographs and records from the three CCC companies that labored at the park. Note: Program requires a slide projector and screen.
