Sustaining ourselves: Urban bee-keeping, worm composting and organic gardening

Do you know how important bees are? Did you know worms can eat your garbage? Do you know what this can mean for your garden?

Albert Einstein once said: “If the bee disappears from the surface of the earth, man would have no more than four years to live. No more bees, no more pollination … no more men!”

Peter Hoy will be joining us to talk about colony collapse disorder and why bees are so crucial to our food system as food pollinators. Chicago’s Urban Worm Girl will be discussing the benefits of using worms for composting. Seneca Kern will be shedding light on the growing popularity and necessity of organic gardening as well as using gardens in building community.
