During the month of October, the South Chicago Art Center will feature artwork from our students, art educators, and professional artists at our Satellite Studio in Pilsen, located at 1825 S. Halsted, Chicago, IL 60608.
All are welcome to come and see some of the amazing work being done at the South Chicago Art Center.
The Art Center will also be unveiling its "343 Gun" Project, a campaign of public outcry against youth gun violence.
This project – and this number – represents the number of school-aged youth injured or killed due to gun violence in the last school year.
As part of the "343 Gun" Project, Chicago Public School students, Art Center participants, and artists nationwide have joined us in speaking out against youth gun violence by creating artistic "guns." Each of the 343 artistically created guns represents one of the youth injured or killed due to gun violence.
Guests will have the opportunity to join the stand against youth gun violence by attending this event and purchasing a piece as a symbolic gesture of taking guns off the street.
