A Road Scholar program by Arthur Pitz
Shared events but disparate narrative occupy the memories of the descendants of Abraham, namely the Israelis and Palestinians. How and why did this come to pass? What are the major issues? Is any form of reconciliation between the two remotely possible? Maps, primary source documents, and audio-visual materials will be used to help understand this complex problem. Standard perceptions of the oft-violent collision between the two groups will be challenged. For example, is this an age-old conflict or the product of international politics in the twentieth century?
