This program contains a dramatic reading of excerpts from the travel writings of women throughout history, focusing on American and British women of the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. The readings are interspersed with brief explications on the nature of this genre, the distinctive qualities of women travel writers vis-à-vis men travel writers, and the differences observed as a result of historical and societal changes.
