Reporting Back Neighborhood Dialogue in Humboldt Park

Join the IHC for the next neighborhood dialogue in the series, Reporting Back: Perspectives on Violence in Chicago, to offer your comments, insights and experiences. Award-winning journalist Darryl Holliday (recent recipient of the prestigious Studs Terkel Community Media Award 2015) and Humboldt Park resident Brian Herrera will seek input on their comics journalism reporting on experiences of people living in neighborhoods affected by gun violence. Their reporting project is presented in the form of illustrations, an emerging form of nonfiction storytelling.

Reporting Back is a three-month, multimedia reporting project pairing working journalists with community residents to investigate critical issues in their communities. As the teams gather sources to produce text, video, radio and comics journalism content, these open neighborhood dialogues directly engage with the community during the storytelling process.

Join the IHC to learn more about their reporting, share your perspectives with Darryl and Brian, and support a crucial conversation about how media can tell the stories of neighborhoods affected by gun violence more deeply and effectively.

Space is limited. Registration is recommended.
