Presidential Assassinations

A Road Scholar program by James Winker

Most Americans know precious little about the assassinations of William McKinley and James Garfield, and are not often quite sure what to believe about the assassinations of Lincoln and Kennedy. In this presentation, James Winker asks the audience to consider the events leading up to, the individuals involved in, and the long-term results of the assassination of four American presidents. What is the historical context for each event? Who are the personalities central to the cases? More importantly, what ramifications did their deaths have for the direction of the United States?
