Pioneering Educators: Morgan County Chautauqua

The Morgan Country Historical Society in Jacksonville, Illinois will present a Chautauqua on the educational history of the region. Audiences will be able to hear lecturers, first-person re-enactors, musical programs, and storytellers, all related to the period, the region, and education at Illinois College during the 19th century.

    Music by the Brad Floreth Quartet.
  • Catherine Beecher – 4:20p

    Don Eldred, James Davis, Wendy McCarty, John Power, and Teddy Rammelkamp will discuss the historical figure of Edward Beecher.
  • Owen Lovejoy – 5p

    Fully catered dinner to be served at 6pm.
  • Catered Supper – 6p

    Fully catered dinner to be served at 6pm.
  • The Prairie Grass – 7p

    Fred McCord will be acting out the historical personality of Julian Surtevant.
  • Meet Harriet Beecher Stowe – 8p

    Ruth Pangrace of Lankland, Ohio will be presenting the historical personality of Harriet Beecher Stowe.
