This fall, one of Chicago’s most artistic and culturally vibrant neighborhoods will be gathering as a community to celebrate and host the 10th edition of one of the city’s largest independently-produced open studios.
The 10th annual edition of Pilsen Open Studios, one of the premiere events of the citywide Chicago Artist month, will take place October 20-21, in various locations along Pilsen’s 18th Street Corridor.
Exending from Western Ave. to Halsted St., the event will largely feature the work of artists residing in the Pilsen area, as well as other local, national, and international artists invited to exhibit at select galleries. Last year, over 4,000 people descended onto Pilsen to enjoy a celebration of art, culture, and community. This year, over 75 artists will be showcasing their work in more than 35 studios, alternative spaces, and cafes.
Pilsen Open Studios will take place Saturday, October 20, from 12 noon to 8pm, and Sunday, October 21, from 12noon to 6pm. Colibri Studio Gallery (2032 W. 18th St.) will be the central location for maps, tours, and information of the event, as well as boarding and departing point for guided tours to a select group of studios and galleries. Mural tours will also take off from this location, guided by Jose Guerrero, a seasoned community artist.
