Passionate Nature: Alfred Caldwell's Chicago Parks Tuesday

Alfred Caldwell‘s exquisite Lily Pool in Lincoln Park has been nominated as a National Historic Landmark- an honor bestowed upon only a select number of America’s most significant landscapes.

This program celebrates Caldwell’s contributions and takes place the same week that the Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool opens to the public for its 2006 season.

Join us for the premiere public showing of Passionate Nature: Alfred Caldwell’s Chicago Parks.

Produced by June and Paul Finfer of Lost and Found Productions, this independent documentary provides insight to Caldwell’s life, the creation and restoration of the Lily Pool and his other Chicago park work.

The film will be followed by a panel discussion with the film makers and Julia S. Bachrach, Chicago Park District historian and Gerald Estes, AIA, on Caldwell’s contributions to American landscape architecture.

This program is sponsored by the Lincoln Park Conservancy and the Chicago Architecture Foundation.

As part of Chicago Public Radio’s new program, Chicago Amplified, a recording of this event can be listened to or downloaded.
