Every Saturday during the exhibit the museum will host an eclectic line-up of local performers who are carrying on the roots tradition. These performances are supported by Barnyard Guitar.
This week’s performance will feature the Western Illinois University Heritage Ensemble.
The Heritage Ensemble was established in the fall of 1979 and has a long history of providing students with an opportunity to gain experience and skills in performing and directing various forms of African and African-American musical genres such as gospel, spirituals, contemporary, show tunes, and anthems. This unique club not only provides cultural enrichment for the community but offers an opportunity for cultural and social exchange between the students and audiences.
HyVee will be providing fresh baked goods.
This event is part of the New Harmonies: Celebrating American Roots Music Exhibition on display in Macomb at the Western Illinois Museum between October 23rd and December 5th. Open hours are: Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00am – 4:00pm.
