Every Saturday during the exhibit the museum will host an eclectic line-up of local performers who are carrying on the roots tradition. These performances are supported by Barnyard Guitar.
This week features a beginner Ukulele Workshop.
This Ukulele Workshop is designed for folks who have no experience with the ukulele and introduces the basics: tuning, basic chords, strumming techniques and several songs.
Ukuleles are provided for the workshop or if you have your own or can borrow one you may bring it instead.
This workshop is limited to 10 people and advanced registration is required through the Western Illinois Museum office.
Dr. Michael L. McGowan, Professor at WIU in the Recreation, Parks and Tourism Administration, developed this workshop to bring together people of all ages to share in the joy of making music.
For more information, email Mike McGowan.
This workshop is part of the New Harmonies: Celebrating American Roots Music Exhibition on display in Macomb at the Western Illinois Museum between October 23rd and December 5th. Open hours are: Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00am – 4:00pm.
