Michael Accault, a French explorer who came to Illinois in 1679 with La Salle, comes alive in a first person, living history presentation by Dan Hechenberger. Accault lived among the Illiniwek tribes near Peoria, Starved rock, St. Louis and the mouth of Kaskaskia River. In the 169’s he married Kaskaskia Chief Rouensa’s Christian daughter, Marie, and played a pivotal role in the conversion of three-quarters of the Kaskaskia people to Christianity. Hechenberger will use the moons of the Illiniwek Tribes to interpret the Illiniwek life cycle and their intimate connection to their natural surroundings.
