March 18th marks the third anniversary of the war in Iraq.

Please join the Public Square at the Illinois Humanities Council, American Friends Service Community , Arab-American Action Network and the Chicago Cultural Center forlunch and conversation with Dr. Rashad Zidan.

Dr. Zidan is a member of a delegation of courageous Iraqi women who have come to the U.S. to share their first-hand accounts and stories about the effects of the war in Iraq and the organizing efforts that are taking place.

Seldom do we hear the first-hand experiences of people surviving, working and organizing in war-torn Iraq. We are so lucky to be hosting a discussion with Dr. Rashad Zidan, a practicing pharmacist, who works in Baghdad and Fallujah. Dr. Zidan is the founder of the Women and Knowledge Society, a grassroots group that aids victims of war especially orphans. She will speak about her experiences of the war and about women’s education and work in Iraq. Dr. Rashad Zidan is visiting the U.S. as part of the campaign Women Say No to War.

Suzanne Adely , an Arab-American Chicagoan, originally from Jordan, who works with the Arab American Action Network and the Arab Women Rising for Justice (AMWAJ), will introduce and converse with Dr. Zidan.

A delicious lunch will be served.
