Legends and Legacies - Opening Night of the 10th Annual Chicago Asian American Jazz Festival

This panel discussion precedes the opening night performance of the 10th Annual Chicago Asian American Jazz Festival. Speakers include Festival Founder and Executive Producer Tatsu Aoki, leading figures of the West Coast Asian American Music Movement saxophonist/composer Francis Wong, pianist/composer Jon Jang, poet/writer Genny Lim, and New York performance artist Kate Rigg.

The panel will discuss the last 10 years of music to come from the Asian American cultural perspective, from works that are rooted in and informed by traditional music forms including taiko, to contemporary and “modern” works.
