Lecture by James K. Johnson: Eastern's Involvement and Impact on Large-scale Public Sculpture

Sculptor and EIU Arts & Humanities Dean Emeritus James K. Johnson will talk about his large-scale sculpture and the impact EIU has on the development of public sculpture.

Johnson has participated in over 60 regional and national juried and invitational exhibitions. His large-scale outdoor sculptures in aluminum and cor-ten steel are on exhibit in Illinois, Kansas, Arkansas, and Indiana. Johnson holds an MFA from the University of Kansas and a BS from Emporia State University. Prior to serving as Dean Johnson taught at the University of Kansas and Arkansas State University, and was Professor and Chair of the Art Department at EIU.

The lecture by James K. Johnson is presented in conjunction with the exhibition Skulplcher Werkz, made up of sculpture by over 50 Eastern Illinois University alumni spanning more than 25 years.
