Katherine Boo: Behind the Beautiful Forevers

In Behind the Beautiful Forevers: Life, Death, and Hope in a Mumbai City, Katherine Boo shows us an abundance of humanity and promise in one of the world’s most dismal places.

Published in 2012 to rave reviews, Behind the Beautiful Forevers won the National Book Award and was named a best book of 2012 by the New York Times, the New Yorker, the Economist, and the Nation, among many others.

Boo, a Pulitzer Prize–winning journalist and MacArthur Fellow, discusses the three years of research behind her masterpiece and the lessons her work in India holds for our understanding of global change, inequality, and human nature. She will be joined in conversation by Victoria Lautman.

This program is generously underwritten by Anita and Prabha Sinha.
