In the K/Now: The Green Movement in Chicago

Al Gore`s An Inconvenient Truth has re-stirred the environmental pot and now we continue to face the issues surrounding our sustainable world. Chicago has proven to be a leader in the green movement, especially with its green building efforts. Join us for a discussion on what it takes to make an environmentally friendly city and how you can lead a greener life. Panelists will include Robert Kohl from the Center on Halsted (Chicago`s newest all-green building), Jay Longo, one of the building`s architects, Erik Olsen, Green Projects Administrator from the City of Chicago, and Jenna Rose, President of A Fresh Squeeze. Laura Washington, Ida B. Wells-Barnett Professor at the DePaul University Humanities Center, will moderate this program. In the K/Now is a series of dynamic discussions about events and issues that headline local news and conversations around town. Through In the K/Now, the Chicago History Museum will be responsive to the events and issues that headline local papers and news, those discussed at bus stops, community centers, neighborhood parks, corner bars, grocery stores, and coffee shops. The In the K/Now series is presented in partnership with The Public Square at the Illinois Humanities Council and the Chicago History Museum. The series is made possible in part by a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Illinois Humanities Council, and the Illinois General Assembly.
