'Hombres Verdes,' 'Madagascar,' and 'Video de Familia'

Clandestinos is a festival of film and video bearing witness to the Cuban people’s ingenuity, capacity for self-examination, and courage. The festival is a testament to how digital media has made its way into the landscape of Cuban film production. In “Hombres Verdes,” a green man sees his dream destroyed and must choose between the struggle to rebuild or surrender. “Madagascar” takes place after the fall of the Soviet Union and chronicles an adolescent girl who daydreams about going to another island, Madagascar. “Video de familia” centers around a family’s efforts to make a video-letter to an estranged son.
