Screening films from the 1920s that Carl Sandburg reviewed while film critic for the Chicago Daily News, Elder will provide context and background for modern-day filmgoers during the ongoing series.

The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari is considered one of the best horror movies of the silent film era, the sinister Dr. Caligari is a “mad doctor” who, along with his sleepwalking companion, is accused of murder. 1920. Horror. 71 minutes.

This event is presented by the Elhmhurst Historical Museum in complement to the exhibit “Carl Sandburg in Elmhurst.” It’s the second film scheduled in the Silent Film Screening series.
