Everyone’s a Designer/Everyone’s Design continues its journey through the city at Tuley Park. Bounded by the expressway and the old Illinois Central railroad tracks, the Chatham area has for generations been home to a vibrant African-American community, many of its members having worked at local businesses such as the Johnson Products Company and the Independence Bank of Chicago. Tuley Park in the Chesterfield neighborhood totals 20.19 acres and features a gymnasium, auditorium, clubrooms, and a garden.

At Tuley Park, the exhibition features the home of North Kenwood resident and retired environmental chemist Patric McCoy. His home is filled top-to-bottom and wall-to-wall with artwork, almost exclusively by living artists with a focus on the African-American experience. Patric is passionate about democratizing art collecting and plans to transfer his home and collection to a publicly accessible trust that will be maintained as a house museum.

Everyone’s a Designer/Everyone’s Design, produced by Illinois Humanities, is a free traveling museum exhibition that explores and celebrates everyday Chicagoans’ influence on art and design in the city. Travelling across Chicago’s Cultural Centers, the exhibition tells the stories of 5 people, the homes they’ve made uniquely their own, and the rich design and architectural history of their neighborhoods.
