Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra Concert

The Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Music Director Stephen Alltop, begins its 52nd season of spectacular music-making, “The Power of Music,” at 7:00 pm on Saturday, October 13, 2012, when it presents “Classical Giants” at Elmhurst Christian Reformed Church, 149 Brush Hill Rd., in Elmhurst. In this concert of classical delights the talents of ESO Principal Horn Philip Stanley will be on display in Mozart’s Horn Concerto No. 4 in E-flat, while the ESO’s own Associate Concertmaster Kate Carter joins Stephen Alltop in a charming concerto for violin and harpsichord by Haydn.. These works are bookended by two favorites of the Classical repertoire, the melodious Symphony No. 88 in G Major by Haydn and Mozart’s effervescent Symphony No. 34 in C Major. To celebrate opening night, concert patrons are invited to enjoy a dinner buffet from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. in the Garden Room of the church, with food provided by Café Amano. Tickets cost $30 per person and must be purchased by Friday, October 5. Call 630-941-0202 for information. Audience members are invited to learn more about the music at a free concert preview with Ted Hatmaker at 5:45 p.m. in the upper level Gathering Room of the church. Concert doors and the box office open at 6:15. The church is handicapped-accessible and offers free parking.

Tickets cost $29 for adults, $27 for seniors and $7 for students. Discounted tickets for groups of 10 or more are $25 per ticket. A single concert family ticket for $65 will admit two adults and up to three students. “Build your own” subscription plans of three, four or five concerts are still available for the season and offer ESO members a substantial discount over single ticket prices.
