Einstein’s discoveries rank among humanity’s greatest achievements. His Theory of Special Relativity predicts the emergence of the universe from a big bang and the possibility that space itself has a “weight,” predications confirmed by recent observations. Yet, his theory cannot answer several profound questions central to cosmology: What is the power source of the big bang? What is the dark energy pulling apart our universe? Is the universe finite? A finite universe, and indeed a finite universe with several extra dimensions, may be a prediction of a theory beyond Einstein’s — the long coveted Theory of Everything. Connecting the inner space of the quantum and the outer space of the cosmos may complete Einstein’s legacy and unlock new mysteries of the universe that await us beyond Einstein.
