DanceAfrica Chicago links local Hip Hop to world culture as it celebrates 15 years of featuring African and African-American dance, music, and spoken word. This is a rare opportunity to get a lyrical sample of Prophets of da City, South Africa’s foremost Hip Hop/Rap/Breakdancing act, and a demonstration of how Rennie Harris Puremovement, Philadelphia’s premier Hip Hop dance troupe, links Hip Hop and dance. This is the only place these world renowned artists will share the stage with local Hip Hop artists. Both groups will give a full, unique, and totally different performance the following weekend at the Chicago Theatre, where DanceAfrica Chicago concludes its week long celebration. All attendees at the Hothouse can purchase tickets for the Chicago Theatre performance at the student discount rate.
