Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) Work Site Tour

Begun in 1933 by then President Franklin D. Roosevelt, the Civilian Conservation Corps, or CCC, was a job-stimulus program that provided young men with work on outdoor projects and improvements such as construction of roads, bridges, reservoirs, dams, levees, and other conservation projects in State Parks and National Forests, as well as other rural areas. Take a tour of three CCC work sites in southern Illinois, led and interpreted by CCC expert, Kay Ripplemeyer-Tippy. This tour will present and discuss issues of government involvement in job creation.
