Michael Corcoran will be speaking on October 5th about his book “Hollywood on Lake Michigan,” a chronicle showing the contribution Chicago and Chicagoans gave to American filmmaking. Chicago is credited with the development of film technology including Essanay Film Manufacturing Company and the Selig Polyscope Company, the first African American owned and operated film studies, gore flicks, and the origination of movie palaces.

The Second City, Goodman, and Steppenwolf theaters were also essential for the industry’s best comedic and dramatic talent. The talks will begin at 4pm in the Baggage room of the Lisle Depot located on the grounds of the Museums at Lisle Station Park. Seating is on a first come basis and there is no registration required.
