A Road Scholar Program by Gregory Vogel
Cemeteries are ideal locations for the study of history and human society because they personify the people and traditions of a local region. This program is conducted outside at a local cemetery when circumstance permit. Gregory Vogel explains how gravestones may be used in the study of genealogy, demography, past beliefs, and the general history of local or regional communities. In this presentation, adults and children alike can learn to understand and appreciate the past through local cemeteries. Participants are also given a cemetery exercise worksheet to further explore the ideas presented in this program and permanently document cemeteries of interest to them.
This event is Free and Open to the public. For more information, please contact Sandra Brubaker, 630.920.9720.
