Throughout history, the societal evolution has taken a variety of forms. In today’s world, those advocating change approach the subject from numerous viewpoints. The current administration’s attempt to privatize a portion of social security and create an “ownership society” is emblematic of those that believe that the best vehicle of change is the centralized power of the federal government. Attempts by factory workers here and abroad to combine their voices and harness their collective power illustrates the opposite approach, believing that true change can only begin with the people.
