Bonesbare 3 is the third installment in the annual artistic collaborative event hosted by Chicago modern dance collective, CORE PROJECT.
This year, CORE PROJECT tackles humor with new movements from choreographers Megan Beseth, Melanie Palmer, and Jessica Melville Goodin + videos by Matt Pierce and Susan Kwon + new work by guest artists Mary Tisa and Candace Winters-March.
Throughout history, humor has been used as a form of entertainment all over the world, whether in the courts of the Western kings or the villages of the Far East. Today, many theories exist about what humor is and what social function it serves. As with any form of art, acceptance of humor depends on social demographics and varies from person to person. And as with any artist, the motivation and purpose to evoke laughter may also vary between humorists.
This October, CORE PROJECT invites you to explore what makes us laugh. What makes YOU laugh? And perhaps more importantly, why do we make others laugh?
Bonesbare 3 is featured as part of Chicago Artist Month. CORE PROJECT is a movement-based interdisciplinary arts collective pushing the boundaries of storytelling in Chicago.
