The Public Square at the IHC and the MCA host a conversation with legendary artist Jon Langford, one of the founders of the influential punk rock band the Mekons, in a discussion on the role of art as a political form of dissent. Langford is an artist and activist who has collaborated on projects such as The Executioner’s Last Songs, a collection of songs of murder, execution and mob justice with partial proceeds benefiting Artists Against the Death Penalty and the Illinois Coalition Against the Death Penalty.
Jon will address the influence of social activism on his paintings and songwriting and demonstrate on guitar.
