Please join us for a conversation with author, activist, and cutting edge scholar, Andrea Smith. We will begin the evening with a reading from “Conquest: Sexual Violence and American Indian Genocide,” where the author will deconstruct historical and contemporary colonialism of Native Americans through the lens of sexual assault.
Andrea reveals the stunning connections between the issue of sexual violence to boarding school abuses, appropriation of spiritual practices, environmental racism, and population control. She brilliantly addresses internalized violence and challenges traditional notions of reparations. “Conquest” proposes viable actions to challenge colonization with Native women positioned at the center of these resistance strategies.
Conquest: Sexual Violence and American Indian Genocide will be available to purchase from Women & Children First Books at the dinner.
