A Road Scholar program by Jeff Mishur
This interactive slide lecture will introduce audiences to the major African American artists of this century, discussing the several styles practiced within the context of major European and American art movements. Mr. Mishur also will also survey those themes addressed in the works of major African American painters and sculptors, as well as Chicago’s role within the history of African American art.
Jeff Mishur earned his BA and MA in Art History from Northern Illinois University and has worked as an art historian and professor for over ten years. He was nominated as Facilitator of the Year by adult learners in the continuing education program at Lewis University and conducts numerous speaking engagements on a variety of art-related topics.
