Attend a special screening of two films in The African Jubilee Film Festival: From a Whisper (feature film) and Kibera Kid (short film). From a Whisper, by the celebrated, young Kenyan filmmaker Wanuir Kahiu, is an award-winning drama about the events surrounding the twin terrorist bombings of the U.S. Embassies in Narobi and Tanzania in 1998. Kibera Kid tells the story of an orphaned street boy named Otieno who lives in Kibera one of the world’s largest slums just outside of Nairobi. Evan Maina Mwangi, Assistant Professor of English at Northwestern University, will lead the post-film conversation.

This is the second screening in The African Jubilee Film Festival, curated by Lynette Jackson and Floyd Webb, which runs from June 27 to December 5.
