48 Hours in Chicago: Violence and Food Justice

Join us for our this Cafe Society with WBEZ reporter NATALIE MOORE and photographer Carlos Javier Ortiz, who spent 48 hours in Roseland (last Memorial Day weekend) with boys trying to stay out of the crossfire and residents trying to keep the peace. Also, Natalie Moore recently spent 48 hours doing the SNAP challenge and eating off $5 a day.

Questions for Consideration

How violent is Chicago and how do we fare compared to other U.S. cities? What are the real challenges of living with food deserts and food stamps? And how is violence connected to food justice and vice versa? How could the media do better covering these issues?
