The Illinois Humanities Council invites non-profit organizations, such as libraries, museums, and historical societies, to learn about the grant opportunities and public programs that we offer every year.

This half-day workshop will include an introduction to the work and mission of the Illinois Humanities Council, discussions about opportunities for collaboration in southern and western Illinois, and detailed information about our statewide programs:

• The Illinois Humanities Council gives Community Grant support to Illinois non-profit organizations to develop public humanities programs for Illinois audiences and to provide technical assistance or general support to help accomplish their core humanities missions. Apply year-round!
• Museum on Main Street (MoMS) serves local communities around the state by circulating first-rate traveling Smithsonian exhibitions that focus on broad and engaging topics in American culture.
• The IHC Road Scholars Speakers Bureau sends Illinois’ finest writers, poets, historians, anthropologists, and living history actors to present to audiences across Illinois. For a small fee, non-profit organizations can bring a speaker to their community and share the Road Scholars experience with local audiences, friends and family. Click here to see our speaker roster. This workshop is free and open to the public. However, reservations are required and can be made online, via email at events@prairie.org, or via phone at 312.422.5580.
