2012 Chicago Spring IHC Community Grant Application & Resource Workshop

We’re Sorry! Reservations are closed.
Due to the overwhelming response to this event, we are no longer accepting reservations.  We host 2 public Community Grant Application and Humanities Resources Workshops in the IHC offices each year. We also hold similar workshops in other parts of the state throughout the year. For more information, please contact an IHC program officer at 312.422.5580 or at ihc@prairie.org.

The Illinois Humanities Council makes grants to Illinois nonprofit organizations to develop public humanities programs for Illinois audiences and to provide technical assistance or general support to help accomplish their core humanities missions. We especially encourage applications from organizations that bring humanities projects to new or historically neglected audiences or communities.

  • Are you interested in applying for an IHC Community Grant?
  • Are you looking for tips on building effective partnerships and collaborating with other agencies to build your programs and audiences?

Representatives from Illinois nonprofit organizations are invited to join us for this special grant application and humanities resource day. During the workshop, IHC staff will field questions about applying for grants for various types of projects, including documentary films, local and community history projects, literary symposia, and oral history projects. You’ll learn about the many ways in which the Illinois Humanities Council provides support for nonprofits, meet IHC staff members who can provide insight into connecting with the IHC, and make local connections with potential collaborators and allied organizations.

Schedule:

  • 10:30 AM: Overview of IHC Community Grant Guidelines and Application Procedures
  • 12:00 PM: Building and Sustaining Effective Partnerships: A panel conversation with representatives from IHC grantee organizations, including Kartemquin Films, the Chicago Cultural Alliance, and other allied agencies.

Read our Community Grant guidelines. The next grant application deadline is July 15, 2012.

This event is free and open to the public. Registration is required but is not SOLD OUT.
