2021 Envisioning Justice Commissioned Artists & Humanists

Illinois Humanities’ Envisioning Justice Artist & Humanist Commissions support 14 Illinois-based arts and humanities projects that respond to the impacts of mass incarceration and help envision and devise strategies for a truly just society. Projects will be completed by summer 2021 and will include such subjects as recidivism, extralegal torture, wrongful convictions, and reentry. Artists and humanists will also develop an “instructional prompt” based off of the commissioned work for an Envisioning Justice Activation Kit that will promote reflection, conversation, and action from viewers and participants.
